Archeological Museum

Archaeological Museum of the A. P. Okladnikova in Khabarovsk is absolutely unique. The museum has about 160 thousand archaeological items, more than a thousand of which have no analogues not only in Russia but in the whole world.

The exposition of the museum tells about the history of the region and original ancient cultures of the Amur region, living here at different times. The most interesting artifacts are archaeological monuments-petroglyphs of Sikachi-Alyan, Sheremetevsky pisanitsy and finds from the first medieval settlements on this territory. The archaeological foundation was based on private collections of V.K. Arsenyev and A.P. Okladnikova. Today, the museum employees annually participate in scientific expeditions in the Khabarovsk Territory, which are organized jointly with foreign colleagues. For children, the museum is of special interest, because in addition to viewing showcases with ancient relics, they can participate in unusual master classes, during which the children learn to write on birch bark, learn about the ancient written language of the Neolithic times, and also try to obtain fire independently without the help of lighters and matches.
