There are several versions of the name appearance. According to one of them, it comes from the Permian and Komi words "ta wa tui", which are translated as "waterway". Local historian VA Lozhkin explains the name by the Tatar origin: "tau" means "mountain", "tui" - can be translated as "feast." Thus, we get a "feast of mountains". Legend of Tavatue and Neiva There are a lot of legends about this lake, but we would like to tell you the most romantic. It was a long time ago when strong and beautiful, wise and keen people lived here. But Tosheem's daughter Neiva was especially beautiful. She was admired by all the guys in the tribe. They wooed to the girl, offering the father a generous ransom. Only a young hunter Tavatui never came with a bow to Toshe, and Neiva waited for him and only he dreamed of giving his heart. Time passed, the tribe lived its ordinary life, wandering through the woods and hunting with hunting.

But one day from the east, warlike people came to the lake valley. They began raiding the village, killing and torturing people. Then the shaman of the tribe told people to go deep into the forest, and everyone agreed with his decision. Outraged only by Tavatui, who called his fellow tribesmen to fight the brutal aliens. The battle began, which lasted from sunrise to sunset. The brave Tavatui fell in this battle, and he fell, bleeding to the ground. Seeing the death of a loved one, Neiva burst into tears. They poured an endless stream and soon filled the valley. Thus a lake was formed, which concealed under its waters the hero Tavatui. And Neiva refused to live after the death of the guy: she rushed from the cliff, hit the sharp stones and turned into a calm river, which, with a quiet murmur, carried its waters along the ground. And in this murmur there was a story about the victory and death of a young hero-hunter. Description of the lake The age of Lake Tavatui is relatively young. It appeared about fifteen millennia ago as a result of tectonic shifts in the earth's crust. In size it is one of the largest in the region. The area of ​​its mirror is 21.2 square kilometers. The depth of Lake Tavatui is nine meters, from south to north it stretches for ten kilometers, and almost three and a half east to west. The water in the lake is crystal clear, almost on all sites, except for the deepest places, cool. The bottom of Lake Tavatui is well visible. From the end of June to the beginning of August, the water near the banks warms up to +23 ° C degrees. And already in the end of August the temperature of the water of Lake Tavatui does not rise above + 13 ° C on the surface and above +9 ° C at a depth. From late October to early May, the lake covers a thick layer of ice. Lake Tavatui in the Sverdlovsk region is located so that in the summer here it is one or two degrees cooler than in the immediate vicinity, and in the winter time it is just as warm.
