Sochi Art Museum

Sochi Art Museum is one of the leading museums of the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus. Today, the museum has the largest collection in its region, numbering more than six and a half thousand items, and represents fine art from antiquity to the present day. 

The Sochi Art Museum was founded in 1971 by order of the MC of the RSFSR of June 24, 1971. The museum is located in one of the most beautiful buildings of the city, a significant city-forming object, an architectural monument of the 1930s. The history of the museum is connected with the history of the city.

The museum collection covers the period of the development of fine art from antiquity to the present day. For more than forty years of its existence, the museum was visited by about three and a half million people. The museum held exhibitions from the collections of museums in Italy (Genoese mezzaro), Germany and Austria (Contemporary Art of the 20th century), Great Britain (Magic pencil and video art “Burnt Poems”), the largest museums of the USSR and the Russian Federation, including exhibitions from the State Hermitage Museum, State Art Gallery of Armenia, solo exhibitions by N. and S. Roerich, DD Zhilinsky, Z.K. Tsereteli and others.

The museum is equipped with modern equipment, including Brailer displays, dezi-players, audio guides, virtual stand assistants, LED street screens, the “Holographic Pyramid” software and hardware system with multimedia content, 3D cinema equipment, a multimedia room with video installation, equipment for a virtual museum, information and touch kiosks
