        Alexei Volodin was born in July 1977 in St. Petersburg, and began taking piano lessons there at the age of nine. A year later he moved to Moscow, where he studied first with I. Chaklina and later with T. Zelikman at the Gnessin Music School. In 1994 he enrolled in the master class of Professor Elisso Virsaladze at the Moscow Conservatoire. From 2001-2 he studied at the Theo Lieven International Piano Foundation in Como. 


He has won several prizes at different International Competitions. In 2003 he won the First Prize at the ninth edition of the Concours Gйza Anda in Zurich, award that launched his international career. 


Alexei Volodin has given recitals in Russia, Spain, France, Norway, Germany, Italy, Holland, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Australia and Switzerland. He has also performed with prestigious orchestras, such as the Sydney Symphony, Orchestra della Radio Svizzera Italiana, SWR Radio Symphony Orchestra, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Mariinsky Theater Orchestra, NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse, Moscow Tchaikovsky Symphony and Tonhalle of Zurich. He has worked with conductors like Christopher Hogwood, Thierry Fischer, Eiji Oue, Gerd Albrecht, Carlo Rizzi, David Zinman, Valery Gergiev and Vladimir Fedoseyev, among others. 


In May 2005, Alexei Volodin gave his debut recital at the Champs-Elysйes Theater, where he achieved an extraordinary public and critics‘ success, being immediately re-invited.His future engagements include his debut recitals in Lyon, Rome, Heidelberg, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Festival de Radio France in Montpellier, Ferrara Musica, Serate Musicale Milano, Musica Insieme Bologna, Pau Casals Festival etc. 


Other important engagements for next season include concerts with Riccardo Chailly and the Gewandhausorchester in Leipzig, Ingo Metzmacher and the Orchestre National de France in Paris, Paul Goodwin and the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra; a tour in Spain performing the Choral Fantasy by Beethoven, together with Leopold Hager, the Weimar Staatskapelle and Orfeуn Donostiarra; his return to Barcelona, Paris and Rome and his first tour through China.
