Mikhail Gubsky (Tenor)
Born in Magnitogorsk, Russia. Graduated from Samara Technical University (1993) and Samara Academia of Arts (1997; prof. Galina Sorokina).
From 1994, he was a soloist of the Samara Opera Theatre, from 1997, - soloist of the Moscow’s Novaya Opera Company (Moscow).
Since 2001, he has also been appearing at the Bolshoi Theatre.

He has toured in USA, Canada, Japan, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Finland, Slovenia and Poland.
In 2003, he took part in a Russian National Orchestra performance of J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor (conductor Kent Nagano) at Moscow's International House of Music. In 2004, he sang the role of The Hussar in a performance of Mavra at the Igor Stravinsky Festival in Arnhem (The Netherlands) and took part in a performance of Rakhmaninov’s The Bells at the Carnegie Hall (conductor James Conlon).
Since 2004, he has been organizer and artistic director of the From Heart to Heart Music Festival, which is held under the patronage of the Samara region local government.
Since 2007, he has been artistic director of the Samara Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
Awards
He was a prize-winner at the Nikolai Pechkovsky Singers Competition (Saint Petersburg, 1996), at the Mikhail Glinka Singing Contest (Samara, 1997), at the Stanislaw Moniuszko Vocal Competition (Warsaw, 1998), at the International Byul-Byul Competition (Baku, 2000), and at the Sobinov Musical Festival (Saratov, 2000).
He was a prize-winner at the Irina Arkhipova Grand Prize of Moscow Television competition (1997); a diploma-winner at the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition (Vienna, 1996).
He was voted Teacher of the year - 99 at a review-competition of professional skills (Samara region).
His awards include: Theatrical Muse prize of the Samara region (1997, 2001, 2006); bronze medal awarded by the Irina Arkhipova Foundation (2002); silver Peter the Great medal for devoted service (2006).
