Natalia Kasatkina and Vladimir Vasilyov’s new ballet production, The Legend of the Swan Lake and the Ugly Duckling, to Grieg’s music, based on Andersen’s fairy-tale, was premiered in the State Kremlin Palace on 25 March 2016 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Classical Ballet

This story is about living among people when you are different. There is a reason why the swan lake is mentioned in the title: like in Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece of the same name it is an image of a faraway beautiful dream. We sought to fill the performance with various meanings to make it interesting for the family audience.
