The epitome of Romantic ballet, Giselle is a poignant tale of unrequited love, remorse, and forgiveness. The role of Giselle, often described as the Hamlet of the ballet world, requires an exquisite stylist with daring dramatic and technical skills. Giselle (by Marius Petipa) is one of the world's favorite romantic ballets, and tells the story of a beautiful village girl who falls in love with a powerful Count, who is disguises himself as a fellow villager. When Giselle learns of his deception and that their love will never be, her world falls apart and she descends into madness.

Romantic ballet "Giselle" to the music of the French composer A. Adan about love, over which death does not rule, conquers the hearts of the audience for the second century. It was the ballet "Giselle" in which the dance received such poetic inspiration, approved the genre of ballet romanticism.
The premiere of the ballet "Giselle" took place on the stage of the Parisian Grand Opera in June 1841, and in 1843 the play was first shown at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow.
The basis of the ballet "Giselle" is based on an old poetic legend about "jeeps" - brides who died before the wedding. At midnight, the legend tells, the jeeps come out of their graves and dance. Woe to the traveler who meets them - the jeeps draw him into his dance and dance in the dance until he falls dead.
The village girl Giselle falls in love with a handsome young man. Albert reciprocates, but is not going to marry a simple girl, he already has a rich bride. Learning the truth, Gisselle loses her grief and dies. But love is stronger than death. In the image of a ghost, she is a repentant Albert and rescues him from vindictive jeeps - brides who did not live up to the wedding.
The premiere of the ballet "Giselle" in the theater "Russian Ballet" staged by V. Gordeyev was held in 1991. A masterpiece of the Romantic era became an adornment of the repertoire of the theater.

By tradition at harvest time, the villagers gather at a different house each day to taste the new wine. We find them gathered at the cottage of the peasant girl Giselle. Count Albrecht, Duke of Silesia, has fallen in love with Giselle. He disguises himself as a peasant in order to court her.
Hillarion, a gamekeeper, who also loves Giselle, suspects the true identity of his rival and warns her to be wary of the stranger. The peasants return with the last of the grape harvest and join in a dance with Giselle and the disguised Count. Laughing off her mother`s warnings that her passion for dancing might be endangering her life, Giselle is crowned Queen of the Vine.
A hunting party led by the duke of Courland with his daughter Bathilde, stops at Giselle`s cottage to rest. Hillarion, learning that Bathilde is betrothed to Court Albrecht, reveals the truth to Giselle. The shock is too great for her and she dies, heartbroken.
