Overview

Sergei Prokofiev’s ballet "Cinderella" after the fairy tale by Charles Perrault staged by Oleg Vinogradov may definitely be rated as belonging in the 20th century’s classical choreography. The choreographer's first professional attention to Prokofiev’s score was paid in 1964. His "Cinderella" has since been performed on many stages all over the world. Oleg Vinogradov in cooperation with Valery Levental created a veritable and traditional (in the finest sense of the word) fairy tale full of everything we all expect of fairy tales and love in them. We find there the good Fairy Godmother with her customary wand that works wonders with ease; the incredibly colorful royal ball; the King; the evil Stepmother; and, of course, Cinderella and the Prince who come through all fairy-tale ordeals for the sake of love. The authors endeavored to make the harmony of music, choreography, and scenography a source of joy for the audiences, for goodness, love, and beauty are what their Cinderella is all about.

"A beautiful fairy-tale filled with what we expect and love so much about  fairy-tales – a kind Fairy Godmother, easily working wonders, a splendidly beautiful royal ball, a king, an evil Step mother and, of course, Cinderella and the Prince who go through all magic impediments in the name of love..."
