Ballet in two acts with apotheosis

The Nutcracker is a perfect symphony about childhood, or rather about turning point when you are still a children but the youth is already close.The ballet was revived by Mikhail Krapivin in 1995.

The action begins in the cozy German house on the eve of Christmas. And then it involves us into the fairy journey. These adventures are a dream of Maria and The Nutcracker and their friends.

Overview

"Nutcracker" is a symphony of childhood. Or rather of the time when childhood is at the turning point. Summary

The action takes place in an old German town in the beginning of the XIX century. Evening. On Christmas Eve, the street is lively, festive. Among passers-by appears Drosselmeyer, the inventor and master of toys. He was invited to a Christmas tree at the Stalbaum.
Festively decorated living room in the house of Stahlbaum. The guests are gathering. Drosselmeyer enters, he brings gifts with him.
Everything is ready for the beginning of the holiday. Children run in. The game begins in blind man's buff. Drosselmeier takes part in it. The first one is the little daughter of Stalbaum Masha, who has dropped out. After the games, dances begin. Then Drosselmeier dressed as a magician shows his tricks and a puppet show: "The Princess wants to be kidnapped by the King of Mice, but the brave Nutcracker saves her."
Drosselmeyer gives children a clockwork toy. But most of all, Masha likes the Nutcracker. Franz takes Masha from the Nutcracker, but only the torn head of the doll remains in his hands. Drosselmeyer quickly repairs the Nutcracker. Masha caresses and soothes an offended pet. It's late, the guests should leave. Masha says goodbye to the Nutcracker, the lights on the Christmas tree go out. Nanny takes Masha to bed.

Masha sees a dream, as if the mice occupy the living room. At their head is the King of Mice himself. Nutcracker at the head of the army of tin soldiers goes on the attack. Masha follows the battle. Overcoming fear, she throws a shoe at the King of Mice. This will save the Nutcracker. The Mouse King is defeated, he disappears with his army. Drosselmeyer turns Masha and the Nutcracker into a beautiful girl and boy. The journey to the fairy-tale country begins. Snow falls…
