Miraculously survived by people, miraculously escaped poplar, which to this day stands in the square of the central square of the city, next to the Eternal Flame and the grave of three international heroes.The trunk of the tree that passed through the war was shattered by fragments and beaten with bullets. But the poplar stands, reminding us of the Battle of Stalingrad. In places where fragments and bullets hit, there were sprouting of the trunk. In 1975, near the surviving poplar, a granite plaque was erected, on which it was carved: "This poplar carried life through the great battle." In February 1993, the city authorities declared the poplar a specially protected area, which in future will be used for military-patriotic, aesthetic education, recreational purposes and for holding mass events.
