Geology museum

The Geology museum of the city of Khabarovsk appeared in 1977, thanks to the efforts of the employees of the Geological Survey of the city. The museum is housed in an ancient building, which has more than a century of history. The basis for the creation of the museum was a rich collection of ores and minerals, fossils and various rocks.

Thematic expositions of the geological museum of Khabarovsk are located on two floors and in the courtyard of the building. Visiting the museum can begin with an exposition "General geological processes", telling about the main geological processes taking place on our planet. Nearby is not less interesting showcase "History of life on Earth" with a variety of petrified remains of prehistoric plants and creatures, their prints on the stones. Also in the museum are the finds that give an idea of ​​the geological features of the Khabarovsk Territory, the Amur and Jewish autonomous regions.
The Geology museum of Khabarovsk also has an exposition "Mineralogy", consisting of 600 mineral species found in the Amur region. Among them there is charoite, discovered in 1984, and the dianite discovered in 1998. In addition, jewelry stones are also on display here. In the geological museum of Khabarovsk there is an exposition "Minerals of Priamurye", an exhibition dedicated to the work of geologists, and in the open air of the museum there are large monoliths of rocks, ores, minerals.
