Museum of Crystal and Lacquer Miniature

In Vladimir city there is a unique Museum of the Crystal, placed in the building of the Trinity church, not far from The Golden Gate. In its exposition represented about 1000 samples of the crystal glass and about 100 of the finest works from the porcelainAll of them were made perfectly by the best craftsmen, you cannot avert your eyes from some of them.

Museum of Crystal, Lacquer Miniatures and Embroidery occupies the stunning building of the Old Believers Trinity Church (also known as Troitskaya Church). It is located right opposite the Golden Gate.

The temple was built in 1913-1916 by the Old Russian Orthodox community and now serves as the museum. This red brick church has two tops crowned with silver helmet domes. Its building decorated with elegant straps and curbs, is the embodiment of beauty and harmony.

The museum houses a rich collection of Russian handicrafts and folk art, lacquer miniature, rock crystal and glass pieces. Traditional Vladimir-style embroidery is also on display. Some of the crystal and glass exhibits were created more than 250 years ago. The museum also has examples of contemporary work.

The museum’s exhibition consists of several parts. The first and the biggest exposition is crystal and glass art work. The exhibits are made in different techniques: molded, cut, and engraved.

The second part of the exhibition showcases lacquer miniature.

The third exhibition located on the second floor is dedicated to the embroidery art. The most outstanding works of Mstera masters presented here. They worked in a special style “msterinskaya smooth surface”; This embroidery art has been lost.

As the temple has excellent acoustics, chamber concerts of choral music often take place here.
