Both settlements, Listvyanka and Bolshie Koty are located at the shore of Lake Baikal, 20 km away. Nethertheless two villages differ a lot: Listvyanka is one of the mostly visited places on the lake, Bolshie Koty is a much more remote and isolated village (reachable only by feet or by boat, no road) where one can relax and take a break from city life and traffic noise to simply enjoy the beauty and serenity of this region. This fully guided adventure tour offers a good combination of sightseeing in famous Listvyanka and trekking to a peaceful remote area of Bolshie Koty.

Day 0: Getting to Irkutsk

The fastest way is to get to Irkutsk by plane from Moscow. There are 6 direct flights per day, duration is 5h 40m.
Usually travellers to Russia visit Moscow for several days before a trip to Baikal. Moscow is the capital of Russia and transport hub for journeys to the rest of Russia. UVisitRussia recommends our partner Aeroflot Russian Airlines for your flight.

Day 1: Listvyanka village

Morning transfer by private car to settlement of  Listvyanka Villagesmall but tourist-wise village of Listvyanka is located on the western shore of Lake Baikal, 70 km from Irkutsk.  Feel the local flavor staying overnight at chalet in Listvyanka Villagebuilt in the traditional Russian wooden architecture style. It is situated in Listvyanka settlement, 750-800 m up valley from the lake, surrounded by gardens and cabins of the local people. A spectacular view to the Lake Baikal's blue mirror opens from windows of the lodge. Lovely hills with silver birch, pines and larch trees start beyond our garden. It's a great place to admire the outstanding nature of the greatest lake, feeling real Russian countryside atmosphere. All rooms with the view to the lake Baikal. Breakfast is included and on your wish traditional  Siberian lunch and dinner (for an extra charge), with Baikal omul fish, are served. Spacious dining room and a balcony welcome you for a cup of tea or a sit outside with a great view to the lake.

Day 2: Hiking from Listvyanka to Bolshie Koty

Hiking from Listvyanka Village to Bolshie Koty.  Both settlements, Listvyanka and Bolshie Koty are located at the shore of Lake Baikal, only 20 km away. Nevertheless two settlements differ a lot: Listvyanka is one of the most visited places on the lake, Bolshie Koty is much smaller, clean and peaceful village. There is no highway to Bolshie Koty, so one can reach the place only by feet or by boat. Quietness and the natural beauty of the area will charm you and leave the peace of mind and unity filling deep in your soul. Ideal place to relax and take a break from city life and traffic noise to simply enjoy the beauty and serenity of this region.  Usually the hike takes about 5-6 hours with a lunch break. Main part of your luggage is kept in Listvyanka; you need to carry a daypack with personal gear.  Bolshie Koty is a remote and isolated village (reachable only by feet or by boat, no road) where one can relax and enjoy the beauty and serenity of this region. Overnight in a cozy Siberian chalet,  built in the traditional Russian wooden architecture style, packed full of gorgeous features which make the property truly unique. Great view to the lake from all rooms, spacious dining room, superb cuisine are the most remarkable advantages of the Koty Chalet. Peaceful atmosphere, bright colors, forests full of mushrooms and wild berries, sunsets over the great lake will take your heart forever. All rooms with balconies and view to the lake.

Day 3: Bolshie Koty

Sightseeing around Bolshie Koty - this part of the Great Baikal Trail offers a very scenic hike through Siberian forests and along the shores of Lake Baikal. Nowadays this tiny, picturesque village is home to less than 70 people, mostly retired, living from agriculture and fishing. Food, products and materials are brought by boats from Irkutsk or Listvyanka. Surrounded by woody hills and picturesque cliffs this solitude place has its own life rhythm measured not by hours and days but with the sunshine and seasons. Crime free and healthy microclimate, Bolshie Koty is ideal against stress, for getting in shape and having rest from the city noise and traffic. Quitness and the natural beauty of the area will charm you and leave the peace of mind and unity filling deep in your sole.
