Day 1:

Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky airport...arrival transfer to accommodations (B&B). Welcome dinner at local restaurant. 

Day 2:

Petropavlovsk...breakfast. City tour with visit to the Kamchatka State Unified Museum. In the afternoon (time to be announced/weather dependent), transfer to helicopter for a flight (20-25 minutes) to Nalychevo Nature Park. Upon arrival, settle into cabins at the park center. Orientation. Free time and chance to walk to nearby hot springs. Dinner in summer kitchen at park. Overnight.

Day 3:

Nalychevo Nature Park...breakfast. Hike to Aagsky mineral springs about 12 km on good trail. Set up camp and relax. Guide and camp helper will cook dinner. Guests set up own tents. 

Day 4:

Aagsky mineral spring...breakfast. Hike to Tischinsky Narzany mineral spring total of 13 km crossing the Shumnaya River and arriving to Koryaksky Narzany mineral spring. Camp.

Day 5:

Koryaksky mineral spring...breakfast. Steep hike to Camel Mountain total of 14 km on the up back side of the pass between Koryaksky and Avachinsky Volcanoes. Pass elevation 1100 meters. Camp. If time allows, feel free to continue on to Avacha peak.

Day 6:

Avachinsky Volcano camp...breakfast. Ascend Avachinsky Volcano (2750 meters), ~ 6-7 hours steep hike, but not technical climbing. Evening return to Petropavlovsk city by the truck. Overnight in B&B.

Day 7:

Petropavlovsk city...breakfast. Depart for 6 hours tour to Valley of Geysers by helicopter (1 hour 15 minutes each way). Upon arrival, group excursion. Lunch at lodge. Overnight and dinner at B&B in Petropavlovsk.

Day 8:

Petropavlovsk city...breakfast. Transfer by truck to Mutnovsky Volcano. Upon arrival, hike the Opastniy Canyon or "Dangerous Canyon". Over 300 feet deep, the canyon conceals a waterfall cascading to its depths. Return transfer to the base. Overnight and dinner. Camp.

Day 9:

Mutnovsky Volcano base...breakfast. Transfer to Mutnovsky Volcano for a full day hike up to the crater (2323 meters). Lengthy hike will be awarded with great sightseeing. Geysers colored by fumaroles and mineralized waters look incredible. Overnight in tents at the BC. In the evening, return to the base. Overnight and dinner. Camp.

Day 10:

Mutnovsky Volcano base...breakfast. Transfer to Goryely Volcano (1828 meter) for a full day hike up to crater, where you can see acid turquoise blue crater lake. In the evening return to Petropavlovsk for closing banquet. Overnight at B&B. 

Day 11:

Departure day, airport transfer.

Additional info
  • You will need to carry a rucksack of approximately 12-14 kilograms. Porters can be hired to carry packs for extra fee.
  • Be prepared to take a "shower" in the river.
  • Cary repellent for mosquitoes at all times.
  • If personal hygiene is an issue-bring your own sleeping bags.
  • Carry toilet paper when in the field.
