A wonderful private full day tour, which will take you to some of the wondrous places in St Petersburg including - The Palace of Catherine and Peterhof Park, the fountains of Peterhof and a sightseeing tour of the area.

You will be met at the port by a uVisitRussia representative who will then guide you to your air conditioned vehicle ready to commence your tour.

Board your motor coach for a narrated drive to the suburbs of St Petersburg: to the South to see the Tsarskoye Selo (Pushkin) and to the West to Peterhof, passing Stalin-era buildings, modern residential apartments and dachas (country houses). Heading west to Peterhof, you will see the industrial and residential areas of St. Petersburg, some former mansions of the Russian Nobility, Alexandria Park and the Peter and Paul Cathedral in Peterhof.

This comprehensive full day tour gives you a unique opportunity to admire the most splendid palace and park ensembles of the 18th Century that belonged to the Russian Tsars.

WHAT YOU VISIT:

When your cruise ship docks in St Petersburg, embark on a full-day shore excursion of nearby palaces with an informative guide. Travel 15 miles (24 km) south by comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle to the city of Pushkin, also known as Tsarskoye Selo (Russian for ‘royal village’).
Here, visit the magnificent, Baroque-style Catherine Palace, presented as a gift to Empress Catherine I from her husband, Peter the Great, in 1708. As you take photos of the decorative architecture, learn about the Romanov tsars who resided at the estate, granting audiences and holding gala balls and masquerades. Catherine Palace - Designed by Rastrelli, the ornate Baroque Palace is over 1,000 feet long and features an ornate blue facade. Gold onion domes crown the palace's north end, the site of the chapel. Your tour visits the White Vestibule, Grand Hall, the Amber Room, the Portrait Hall, the Crimson Pilaster Room and more. Check out the interior of the famous Amber Room, covered with more than 180 square feet (55 square meters) of amber panels backed with gold leaf. Hear about the recent reconstruction of the room, once considered the Eighth Wonder of the World due to its outstanding beauty.
* Please be advised, during the high tourist season the Catherine’s Palace welcomes tourists every day except Tuesday's. However, this may also apply to certain 'Events' also taking place in St. Petersburg.  In these instances, the Palace of Paul might be visited instead of the Catherine’s Palace.

After your 2-hour palace tour, including the surrounding gardens landscaped in 18th- and 19th-century designs, enjoy lunch in a nearby restaurant serving classic Russian cuisine.
In the afternoon, discover the amazing imperial estate of Peterhof on a 2-hour tour of the luxurious garden complex located on the shores of the Neva River. With more than 140 fountains, including three major cascades, the park boasts the world's largest fountain system and has been dubbed the ‘Russian Versailles.’ Admire the Grand Cascade with its impressive golden statue of Samson grasping the jaws of the lion, as well as designs featuring a chessboard or Chinese dragons. In the Upper Garden, discover a fountain depicting Neptune, God of the Sea.
Peterhof Park - Travel to another former summer Imperial residence. Set in magnificent gardens, Peterhof is reminiscent of Versailles. It was almost completely destroyed by the Nazis in World War II but has been restored to its full splendour. The gardens are dotted with countless fountains, charming pavilions and summer houses. 14 Exclusive rates for wholesalers, host agencies and

The fountains of Peterhof are one of the most famous tourist attractions. The diversity of fountains in the park is surprising. From monumental ensembles like the Samson Cascade to the ever popular Joke Fountains, including one which sprays anyone who steps on a particular paving stone.
