XIII International Ballet Festival Dance Open
Gala Dance Open.
Gala concert of world ballet stars .
Gala Dance Open, traditionally the closing program of the Festival , this year for the first time will be held at the renowned Imperial stage - the Alexandrinsky Theatre .
As always , all participants Gala - the world ballet star , located at the peak of its prosperity . But this time, Dance Open Petersburg present many new names included in the ballet world's top rankings. Among them - Misty Copeland , Melissa Hamilton , Egon de Jong, Sarah Michelle Murawski and others.
In addition, the Gala included in the calendar Crossover Year of Russia and the UK. Constitute a substantial part of the evening not only soloists Royal Ballet, Covent Garden, but also the work of British choreographers - in particular , Wayne McGregor and David Dawson . Both choreographer not only represent British culture , but also recognized today the most popular figures of "radical choreography " - so they represent actual line Gala.
Classic XX century productions will be presented by John Neumeier and Kenneth MacMillan , and Kasian Goleizovsky . His recognizable tone to rethink academic managed to find Jose Martinez .
Dance Open Festival continues inherent in the tradition of last year renovation unfairly , in our view , forgotten choreographic works. The success of " Walpurgis Night " by Leonid Yakobson shown at the Gala in 2013 , inspired by artistic director Vasily Medvedev for more complex searches . Ballet "Bluebeard ", staged by Marius Petipa in 1896 to the music of Peter Schenk , in post-revolutionary Russia would never go . Spectators will see Gala Grand Pas from this ballet soloists of the Bolshoi Theater . Now there is a scrupulous work not only to restore the choreographic text , but also making costumes based on sketches by Ivan Vsevolozhsky - a gifted artist and a director of the imperial theaters. As always , all participants Gala nominated for V St Petersburg Ballet Award Dance Open. Balloting international jury determines the winners in six categories.
