With participation of artists of La Scala Academy, Paris National Opera Academy, and Washington National Opera’s Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program.
Conductor ALEXANDER SLADKOVSKY
The Young Artists Opera Program was set up at the Bolshoi Theatre in October 2009. For two years young singers and pianists from Russia and the CIS countries, selected on the basis of auditions, are coached in different disciplines, including voice studies, stage movement and acting skills, foreign languages and most important – attendance at master-classes given by famous singers and repetiteur-coaches. Each of the Program participants is also provided with plenty of opportunity to perform on stage, singing both lead and supporting roles in the Theatre’s new and current productions. Concert work is another important part of their training.
The Bolshoi Theatre Young Artists Opera Program goal is to nurture a new generation of Russian singers matching up to world standards, strengthen the position of the Russian school of singing in the world at large and to train a new intake for work at the Theatre itself. Since its foundation the most famous singers have worked in the Young Artist Opera program such as Elena Obraztsova, Makvala Kasrashvili, Evgeny Nesterenko, Irina Bogacheva, Laura Claycomb, Carol Vaness; coaches - Svetlana Nesterenko, Ekaterina Vasheruk, Lyubov Orfenova, George Darden, Richard Bado, John Norris (USA), Alessandro Amoretti, Giulio Zappa (Italy), directors Sergey Terekhov, Paul Curran, Andreis Zagars, Tito Capobianco, conductors Nicola Giuliani (Italy), Christopher Moulds (Great Britain), Mikhail and Dmitri Jurowski.
