The Petersburg "Terem-Quartet" is a pioneer ensemble, an innovative ensemble and the world's first ensemble-composer. With his original arrangements and author's works that delight the listeners in different parts of the world, the "Terem-Quartet" blew up the traditional ideas about music for folk instruments and opened new facets of their sound. Using the principles of primordially folk music making, musicians create compositions that are close and understandable to the modern listener.
From the very day of his birth, on November 26, 1986, the musical collective willingly goes on bold experiments. The commonwealth with jazz and rock musicians, joint concerts with symphony orchestras and folklore ensembles, opera and ballet projects, performance at the Eurovision 2009 contest and even participation in the collection of the Chanel Paris-Moscow fashion house by Karl Lagerfeld about the continuous creative search, in which the ensemble does not stop to this day.
The "Terem-Quartet" performed at events of international importance. He gave concerts in the Vatican to a 120-thousand audience, Pope John Paul II and Mother Teresa; in Venice in St. Mark's Square; in the St. James Palace in London; at the celebration of the 3000 anniversary of Jerusalem in the historic center of the city;

"Terem-Quartet" performed more than 60 times at major foreign and Russian festivals, such as the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, the World Music, Arts and Dance Festival WOMAD (with the participation of Peter Gabriel) in England, Settembre musica in Turin (Italy), festivals in Tours and Evian (France), in Perth (Australia), Pori Jazz Festival in Finland, Guelph Spring Festival in Canada, Glatt & Verkehrt in Austria, "Stars of the White Nights" in St. Petersburg, Moscow Easter Festival.

Verdi Conservatory in Turin, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Vigado Concert Hall in Budapest, the Polish National Philharmonic, the opera houses of Bruges, Bombay, Kaufman Hall in New York and many other auditoriums.

The collective constantly conducts enlightening and charitable activities, is awarded many honorary titles and awards.
Andrei Smirnov (Bayan)
He was born in 1963 in Leningrad. In his childhood he played football with much greater pleasure than he did music. Education was easy, thanks to "dodgy cunning". Rather early, he wanted to play in the ensemble: "necessarily small" and "necessarily folk instruments." I am convinced that the main purpose of the "Terem-Quartet" is to "excite an active sense of goodness", but "through mischief and humor." He considers himself self-critical lazy and indecisive, which, however, does not prevent him from raising two sons, build a house and grow a lot of trees around him. The other members of the quartet emphasize that Andrew is not for nothing a harmonist, for the most valuable thing for him is a sense of harmony. Andrei does not think that the main advantage of the "Terem-Quartet" is technical virtuosity: "Very many people play better and purer. The secret is in the special "soulful" sound of our tunes. This is what fascinates the public. "
Mikhail Dzyudze (balalaika - double bass)
He was born in 1962 in the city of Vyborg, Leningrad region. Classes with music began with a cello. Later he began to travel several times a week to Leningrad - to re-learn the double-bass. Mikhail is the only member of the quartet who graduated from the orchestra faculty. As a child, Mikhail faced a choice: to become an artist, a musician or a heavy athlete. As a result, he began to play on a very heavy instrument. And painting has become a very useful hobby, because on tours in his free time from concerts and rehearsals, he acts as a tour guide in the world's famous museums. The question about the style of the game is played by the "Terem-Quartet" Mikhail said in an interview: "I would call our style" hooligan-intellectual ", or on the contrary -" intellectual-hooligan ". This is as much as you like. But its main charm is in combination, at first glance, incongruous things. And what can not get along even in the wildest fantasies, in our music peacefully coexists and sounds convincing. "
Andrey Konstantinov (domra small)
He was born in 1963 on the Volga. He spent his childhood in the hero-city of Volgograd. The music was initially rejected as a "girly thing", imposed by parents. But then there was in his life a guitar - a sign of masculinity. Only in the ensemble of the local House of Culture, where his father led him, there was no guitar. His instrument was a balalaika, and only then - domra. Asked about the genre riddle of the "Terem Quartet" in an interview, he replied: "Our world is as complete as our music. And the definition of the genre is the narrowing of the borders, which means our possibilities. So we prefer to stay out of the genre. We play any music. But we always transform it, adapting to ourselves and our instruments, achieving the naturalness of sound. "
Alexey Borshchev (domra alto)
He was born in 1976 in Leningrad. In his childhood he very much wanted to become an astronaut to open a planet. Sam was eager for music from the age of five and at seven already played at the piano competition. Because of the difficult financial situation of the family had to move to domra. Experimentally found out that Domra is less than a piano 250 times, and therefore it is easier to play on it. He also professionally engaged in sports and technology, but at the age of 15 made his choice: "Music is my everything. I can not live without it. "
Since the late 80's he knows and loves the "Terem-Quartet", and always considered him the only ensemble worthy of imitation of his attitude to music: "The main feature of the" Terem-Quartet "is that any music that we select for our performance, we bring to mind and to the soul. It all sounds in Russian and in Russian. We want to develop our creativity in people's desire to live, to dispel black thoughts, despair, fatigue. We play each our concert as the last ... "
