Five generations of elite aristocratic dynasty Yusupov were the owners of the palace on the Moika from in St. Petersburg from 1830 to 1917. It was famous not only by its architectural design, but also by the frequent and sumptuous receptions, including dances and masquerades. The palace's last owner was the eccentric Prince Felix Yusupov, a high-society darling and at one time the richest man in Russia. The palace is famous for the murder scene Grigory Rasputin - Siberian peasant who became a beginning of XX century spiritual mentor and family friend Emperor Nicholas II. The place where Grigory Rasputin was murdered in 1916, and the basement where this now plot unravelled can be visited as part of a guided tour. Read more
