Klaipėda is the third biggest city in Lithuania situated in the Western part of the country, just near the Baltic Sea. The city is the only ice-free sea port and the important economical, educational and transportation center in a country.

Klaipėda is a seasonal city: it becomes vibrant, busy and full of tourists recreation center from early May until beginning September. The city can offer a great range of outdoor recreation activities: sailing in the sea, picturesque bicycle tracks, Lithuanian Sea Museum and Dolphinarium, easy access to clean and sandy beaches. Klaipėda is also famous for its annual outdoor summer festivals: Klaipėda Castle Jazz Festival in June and Sea Festival at the end of July. 

Popular seaside resorts found close to Klaipėda are Nida to the south on the Curonian Spit, and Palanga to the north.

Klaipėda‘s climate is oceanic, but very close to being a continental. Winters are cold to mild, and summers are warm.  In July and August, the warmest season, high temperatures average 20 °C (68 °F), in January and February, the coldest season, high temperatures average 0 °C (32 °F) with low temperatures averaging −5 °C (23 °F). “. Klaipėda also has a railroad and a bus stations, a harbour, international ferry port, 27 hotels, 1 state University, 4 Catholic chapels, a synagogue, around 10 museums, 2 national theaters, dozen of  shopping malls, 2 cinemas.
