Museum "Memorial Pobedy" ("Victory Memorial")

The Museum "Memorial Pobedy" ("Victory Memorial") is one of the main attractions of the city of Krasnoyarsk. The memorial complex to Siberians-Krasnoyarsk was built in 1975 to the 30th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Located on the Pokrovskaya mountain, in the historic part of the city, the museum and the Victory square adjacent to it are made in a single ensemble designed by the People's Architect of Russia Areg Sarkisovich Demirkhanov. On the memorial area 22 tombstones - burial places of soldiers who died in Krasnoyarsk hospitals, a monument to the liberator soldier, called by the people of "Alyosha", in front of the building, near the monument "Union of Front and Rear", burns the Eternal Flame.

About combat battles reminiscent of the technology of the war years - tanks, howitzer, cannons, mortar.

Later, monuments were erected to servicemen who died in local wars in peacetime, participants in the liquidation of the Chernobyl accident and victims of Stalinist repressions from the Kalmyk people.

For the years of its existence the museum changed its appearance several times, in 2000 it was again reconstructed and acquired a modern look.

At the moment the museum has three halls: the Memorial Hall, the exposition-exhibition and the guest.

The Museum "Victory Memorial" stands out from a number of museums in the city of Krasnoyarsk. It's not even a museum, but a cult place, where entrance to this day remains free. Every year on Victory Day, thousands of Krasnoyarsk citizens come here to honor the memory of all the dead soldiers.

Today, the Museum "Victory Memorial" is a memorial temple about the days of war, about the military generation, because only 455,000 people left the Krasnoyarsk Territory, 168,000 of them did not return. Employees of the museum are searching for relatives of soldiers and officers of the Red Army, who died in the evacuation hospitals in Krasnoyarsk during the Great Patriotic War.
