The Palace of Oleg is a monument of architecture of the XVII-XVIII centuries, the largest civil building of the Kremlin, which has an area of ​​2530 square meters.

The building was built on the site of the Ryazan Kremlin, where until the 16th century. presumably was the prince's court. A beautiful building with colored platbands, a baroque pediment and gate windows, not only among the people, but also in the special literature, is known for the first time as the "Palace of Oleg". On his pediment was once the image of the most famous Ryazan prince - Oleg Ivanovich (died 1402). Rectangular in the plan stone three-story building was erected in stages: the first two floors (architect YK Ershov) - in the middle of the XVII century, the third floor (architect GL Mazukhin) - at the end of the XVII century. Later (1778-1780) architect Y. Schneider made an extension to the east side, increasing the length of the building to 94 m. Oleg's Palace is the residential chambers of the Ryazan bishops. In addition to the residential chambers, the building housed the house church of the bishops (the western wing of the 2 nd and 3 rd floors) and the economic services (1st floor). The building is completely museumed, there are historical exhibitions of the museum-reserve.In 2008, the western part of the Oleg Palace was withdrawn from the operational management of the museum and transferred to the Ryazan diocese.
