Millennium Park

Located in the center of town, along Lake Kazan, Millennium Park was founded in 2005 during the city’s millennial celebration. In the center of the park you will find a beautiful fountain, and along its paths many trees, some of which were planted by celebrated local figures. At the entrance, welcoming guests, are bronze dragon statues called Zilants. Millenium Park is the perfect place to relax in the bustling city center.

The Millennium Park of Kazan (among the local ones known as the Millennium Park) was built by 2005, on which this significant date fell. The eastern boundary of the park is Artyom Aydimova street, Ostrovsky street north, Salimzhanova street, the north bank of the Kaban lake.
The construction was completed in the shortest possible time. Old buildings were demolished, limes, birches, oaks, mountain ash, spruce, and alleys were planted, the last works were completed almost on the opening day.
And since the opening of the Millennium Park has become a favorite place for walking. In warm weather on lawns, you can see students preparing for exams, parents with children, friends' companies. In winter, they set a Christmas tree, and festive garlands hang on the trees.
The territory of the park is surrounded by a forged fence in which national motifs are viewed. Only eight gates, and the main ones are decorated with figures of the zilantes. In local mythology, the zilant is a serpent with wings, symbolizing Kazan. His image is present and on the arms of the city.
Alleys stretching from all the gates converge in the center - at the Crossroads, which is very symbolic, since Kazan itself is at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. At the Crossroads, in turn, the fountain rises - in the form of a cauldron, which is supported by the Zilans. The newlyweds throw in a fountain of coins - for family happiness.
Both the kazan and the serpent-zilanthas appear in the legends about the foundation of the city.
In addition to the fountain, interest is the monument to Kul Guli - the famous Bulgarian poet, author of the poem "The Tale of Yusuf."
