Ob reservoir

Ob reservoir, also known as the Ob Sea, is a large artificial reservoir on the Ob River, near Novosibirsk. The Ob Sea was formed as a result of the construction of the dam of Novosibirsk Hydroelectric Station.

The Ob reservoir extends from southwest to northeast and is approximately 220 km long with a maximum width of 22 km. The surface area of ​​the water surface at the normal backing level is 1082 square meters. kmThe total capacity of the reservoir is 8.8 cubic kilometers. The maximum depth is 25 m. In winter it is covered with ice. On the banks of the reservoir, in addition to Novosibirsk itself, there are the towns of Berdsk and Kamen-na-Obi, as well as many other settlements.
Novosibirsk HPP is the only hydroelectric power station on the Ob River. Includes a concrete dam that is 33 m in height and nearly 200 m in length, as well as a scour dam and two earth dams.
The total length of all water-tight constructions is 4846 m. ​​Earthen dams 8,39 million cubic meters of soil are mined. The installed capacity of the power plant is 470 MW. For passage of vessels through water-resistant structures there is a gateway divided into three chambers.
The Ob Sea is filled with water during the flood, and its work is carried out in mediums. The marking of the surface of the water at a normal backing level is 113.5 m above sea level. There are many islands on the reservoir, including the Tan-Wan and Khrenovy Islands.
