Trinity Monastery of St. Sergius Sviyazhsk

The first Orthodox church in the Middle Volga region, built in 1551. But later the church was rebuilt several times. Located in Sviyazhsk.
The temple belongs to the monuments of architecture. A masterpiece of wooden architecture of Russia. He was cut down in one day, without using a single nail. The church is built in tent style. Of great value is a wooden four-tiered iconostasis.

The wooden Trinity Cathedral Church in 1551 is the oldest in the Middle and Lower Volga regions. This is the only building left from the original wooden Sviyazhsk. Researchers are inclined to believe that the church is one of the buildings that were built 1000 km up the Volga - in Uglich, marked, dismantled and delivered by a caravan of ships and rafts for assembling forcibly resettled residents of the recently taken Torzhok. Later, in 1821, the temple was moved to a brick basement.
