Arc de Triomphe "The Royal Gates"

In honor of the arrival of the Tsarevich Nikolai Alexandrovich, future emperor Nicholas II, in 1891 the Triumphal Arch "The Royal Gates" was built. On the day of the 340th anniversary of the city of Ulan-Ude in 2006, the Triumphal Arch was restored. In the upper part a memorable inscription was placed: "June 20-21, 1891 - the date of the arrival of Tsesarevich Nikolai Alexandrovich to Verkhneudinsk"

June 20-21, 1891 during the trip to Eastern Siberia Verkhneudinsk (now Ulan-Ude) of the Republic of Buryatia was visited by Tsarevich Nikolai Alexandrovich. In honor of this event in it, as well as in other cities, honored to host a high guest, the Triumphal Arch "The Royal Gates" was built, which was then called "The Royal Gates".

The two-headed eagles were decorated with the arch "Tsar's Gate", which were dropped in February 1917. The arch itself stood until 1936 and then was also demolished. On the day of the city on June 12, 2006, the Triumphal Arch in the Republic of Buryatia was restored.

A copy of the royal gate now adorns the street of Lenin. True, in size the new arch is larger than the previous one - its width is about 14 meters, and the height is about 9 meters. But otherwise it is an exact copy of the old Arc de Triomphe. It has a Russian coat of arms and an inscription: "June 20-21, 1891 - the date of the arrival of Tsesarevich Nikolai Alexandrovich to Verkhneudinsk".

June 27, 2006 on the front side of the triumphal gates was established the state emblem of Russia - the two-headed eagle, it was on this day that the "Royal Portal" of the city was finished. The old arch, designed by Nikolai Pauv, was wooden on a stone foundation.
