Beketovskaya railway station

Beketovskaya railway station in the Kirovsky District, 17 kilometres away from the central Volgograd 1 station, was built concurrently with the Tikhoretsk offshoot of the Vladikavkaz Railway in the 1890s.

Otrada volost centre was next to the station. Nikita Beketov, the governor of Astrakhan, had his estate here in the 18th century. The Ukrainian settlement of Beketovka was on the other side of the ravine. There was one sawmill nearby at the time when the station was built. Ten factories were operating in the neighbourhood in 1910. In 1915, there were 15 sawmills and 19 timber warehouses in the area, employing about three thousand people. The single-story brick building of Beketovskaya station was constructed in the late 19th-early 20th century.
