Ethnographic museum of the village of Esso

To get acquainted with the culture, customs, traditions and history of the peoples of Kamchatka, a tourist should visit the ethnographic museum, which is located in the Bystrinsky national district in the village of Esso.

The very building of the museum, which mentions thoughts about the past, is a Cossack prison, and on its territory there is a defensive tower, an exhibition hall and an orderly hut. Everything in general looks very organic and interesting.

Outdoors, you can admire the magnificent carved sculptures that introduce the traveler into the mythological world of Kamchatka inhabitants.

But, for example, if you go into an izba hut, the tourist will be transported to the Evens' past: he learns about the arrangement of their dwellings, about the features of clothes, about what dishes they ate. Especially interesting are Evenes' beliefs and rituals. All the museum staff collected the items themselves, exploring the taiga camps of this people.

Museum collections are constantly replenished, in 2003 a semi-underground Koryak dwelling was built on its square, which dates back to the 19th century. By the way, it is more like a flying saucer than a living room. In them, seaside nemylans lived until the twentieth century. In 2005, appeared no less fascinating exhibit - the Koryak booth.

During the tour, you can watch a small film about the life of the peoples of Kamchatka and make unique photographs, dressed in national Even clothes, and the backdrop will serve as their marching yurt.

The exhibition hall gathered the works of skilled masters of Kamchatka and Magadan. They create their masterpieces of wood, furs, beads and bones. There also sell souvenirs, which can not be found anywhere else.
