Kozelsky volcano

Kozelsky is the easternmost volcano in the volcanic ridge ~30 km north of the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. His neighbour at the west is Avachinsky volcano.

Kozelsky Volcano belongs to the Avachinsky-Koryaksky volcano group located on the eastern range. It is located in Nalychevo Nature Park included in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. This stratovolcano is 2.189 meters high. It contains a large damaged crater opened to the east as well as a small glacier. The date of the last eruption of this extinct volcano is unknown. It contains a deposit of black diamonds. There are very few of these in the world and always in small quantity. Kozelsky volcano is only 25km away from the Pacific Ocean.
