Ekaterinburg Zoo

In Yekaterinburg, there is a beautiful zoo, founded in 1930.Being in a small area in the center of the city, he has an interesting - one of the best in Russia - a collection of animals.

The Ekaterinburg Zoo is located in the city centre and has a territory of 2 hectares. After its reconstruction in the late 1990s, the zoological park territory changed. New appealing pavilions appeared here, as well as spacious enclosures for predators and a small entertainment area with amusement rides.

Today, the Zoo collection features over 300 animal species, including very rare ones. For example, here one may see a snow leopard, a Siberian tiger, an Indian elephant, a fossa, an aardvark, an Indian python and many others.

Practically all the animals here live in couples and often bring forth their young. Thus, the Ekaterinburg Zoo is the only Russian zoo where night apes, white-headed capuchins and several other species multiply.

Every weekend, the Zoo hosts celebrations for kids with master classes, useful lectures and exciting contests. The young biologists’ club works under the auspices of the establishment as well.
