Sverdlovsk state Philharmonic start its activity in 1936, with concert of Symphony orchestra.
In 1990, the Sverdlovsk state orchestra was renamed the Ural state Philharmonic orchestra, and in March 1995, received the title of «academic». The name change was dictated by the objective factors — the city of the «closed» turned into «open'and the country has seen a change of political regime. On may 26, 1998 by Order of the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation № 294 concert organization «Sverdlovsk state Philharmonic» was awarded the title of «Academic». Despite the changes, the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic society has remained true formed over decades of innovative traditions. Sverdlovsk, later renamed in Ekaterinburg, was initiated on the Philharmonic stage of the first author festivals of contemporary composers such as Sofia Gubaidulina, Valentin Silvestrov, Aveta Terteryana, Arno Pyart, Giya Kancheli. Within the walls of the Philharmonic society took place several festivals piano duets and festivals of guitar and symphonic music. Was the development the international contacts in the joint Russian-foreign projects, in performances of foreign musicians with the Ural academic Philharmonic orchestra, tours of the orchestra in different countries of the world. In recent years, Ekaterinburg audience discovered new Russian names — Mark Drobinskiy, Alexei Lyubimov, Vadim Repin, Nikolay Luganskiy, Denis Matsuev, Boris Berezovskiy, Ignat Solzhenitsyn... the History of the Philharmonic and the orchestra is the way of search and acquisition of it's face, finding their place in the cultural life of the country, the desire to conform to the standards accepted in the global music community.
To date, the symphonic orchestra of the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic society remained a «visiting card» of musical Ekaterinburg. But the Philharmonic society is not only a Symphony concerts, this evening of organ music, performances of masters of singing, literature concerts, performances of children creative team and much more. Philharmonic is situated in a unique building. It was built in 1910 in the style of «modern», it housed Business club, where Ural merchants and manufacturers loved to get together.
